About Rolfing

"If you can imagine how it feels to live in a fluid, light balanced body, free of pain, stiffness and chronic stress, at ease with itself and the Earth’s gravitational field; then you will understand the goals of Rolfing” ~ Ida P. Rolf

Rolfing® SI is a sophisticated and effective form of hands on tissue manipulation and movement education. Rolfing® SI works structurally to reorganize the web-like complex of connective tissue, improving the balance and alignment of the whole body in gravity. It also works with perception and coordination, enhancing awareness and inviting the whole body to participate in movement. The goal of Rolfing is to create structural, functional, and energetic changes within the body to help free mind, body, and spirit from limitations, injury, and pain.

When we find support and balance in gravity rather than struggle against it, less energy is required to perform daily tasks, and we begin to live with more awareness, grace, and ease. As movement becomes lighter, more vital energy is available to engage and connect to the world and discover our unique potential. Posture, at any moment, is an accumulation of attitudes: the manner in which we meet others and allow others to meet us. In other words, changing our posture and movement habits means affecting the way we perceive the world and the way the world perceives us. By understanding and exploring options within our bodies, we open up possibilities in our relationships with family, friends, our community, and the environment.

ABOUT CRANIOSACRAL THERAPY

“Its not how deep you go, its how you go deep” - Dr. Ida Rolf

CranioSacral Therapy (CST) is a profound and powerful modality, both on its own and woven strategically into a Rolfing session or series. CST is a gentle, hands-on approach that works with the body’s craniosacral system (membranes and fluid that surround the brain and spinal cord) to support and nourish the central nervous system —improving overall health and well-being.

Similar to Rolfing, CST sees the body (body/mind/spirit) as self healing. The body has everything it needs to heal but sometimes in the process of navigating life it gets stuck. By normalizing the environment around the brain and spinal cord and enhancing the body's inherent ability to self-correct, CranioSacral Therapy can help the body reestablish greater balance and stay free from restriction.  A balanced body is less burdened by pain and everyday stresses and more able to dedicate energy to living a vibrant life.
